Are you a licensed and insured moving company in Georgia?
Yes. Brown Thrasher Movers is a fully licensed Household Goods Carrier registered with the Georgia Department of Public Safety (DPS). We carry general liability, cargo, and workers' compensation insurance to provide a "10 out of 10" safety standard for our clients.
Do you provide free, written moving estimates?
Yes. Per Georgia law, all estimates must be in writing. We provide free binding and non-binding estimates for local moves across Metro Atlanta to ensure no "hidden fees" or surprises
What is your USDOT number and why does it matter?
Our USDOT number is required for all legal moving operations. This number allows you to verify our safety records and compliance through the FMCSA.
How do you handle moving in Atlanta's heavy traffic?
We schedule moves to avoid peak Atlanta rush hour (7:30–9:30 AM and 4:30–6:30 PM) whenever possible. Our drivers are experts at navigating the I-285 Perimeter and the Downtown Connector to ensure timely arrivals.
Do you offer "Google Guaranteed" moving services?
We participate in the Local Services Ads (LSA) program. This means we have passed Google’s rigorous background checks, providing you with an extra layer of peace of mind.
Are you experienced with high-rise moves in Buckhead and Midtown?
Yes. We specialize in Buckhead high-rise moving logistics, including
reserving freight elevators, providing COIs (Certificates of Insurance) for building management, and managing tight loading dock access.
Do you serve areas outside the Perimeter (OTP)?
Absolutely. While we are ITP experts, we regularly serve Marietta,
Alpharetta, Roswell, and Peachtree Corners.
How do you handle steep driveways in North Georgia/Atlanta neighborhoods?
Atlanta’s terrain can be tricky. We use 26-ft standard American box trucks equipped with heavy-duty ramps, and our crews are trained to safely manage loading on the incline common in Sandy Springs and Vinings.
Do I need a parking permit for a move in the City of Atlanta?
For some street-level moves, a permit may be required. We can advise you on
Atlanta parking ordinances to avoid fines on moving day.
Do you offer full-service packing and unpacking?
Yes. We provide full-service packing using premium Brown Thrasher boxes. We also offer "partial packs" for fragile items like kitchens and china cabinets.
Can you move specialty items like pianos or antiques?
Yes. We are skilled in specialty item moving, including upright pianos and heirloom furniture. (Note: We do not move baby grand or grand pianos).
Do you provide labor-only moving for U-Hauls or PODS?
Yes. If you have your own truck, we offer professional loading and
unloading labor to ensure your items are packed tightly and safely.
Do you handle commercial and office moving in Atlanta?
Yes. We offer office relocation services for local small businesses and corporate suites, providing a structured, efficient move that minimizes downtime
Do you disassemble and reassemble furniture?
Standard furniture disassembly and reassembly (like beds and dining tables) are included in our local moving quotes.
What items are movers not allowed to move in Georgia?
For safety and legal reasons, we cannot transport hazardous materials (propane, flammables), guns, ammunition, or live plants.
Should I empty my dresser drawers before the movers arrive?
For most local moves, you can leave soft items like clothes in the drawers. However, please remove jewelry, electronics, and heavy items to protect the furniture's integrity.
How do you protect my home’s floors and walls during the move?
We use neoprene floor runners, door jam protectors, and heavy-duty
moving blankets to ensure your new Atlanta home stays pristine.
What is your policy for inclement weather (Atlanta summer rain)?
We move rain or shine! Our teams use professional-grade shrink wrap and moving pads to keep your furniture dry during sudden Atlanta summer thunderstorms.
How far in advance should I book my move?
